Mit dem zweiten Schritt mussten die Koordinaten (Rechtswert und Hochwert) des oberen linken Pixels erfasst werden, um diese später in die Worldfile zur Georeferenzierung einfügen zu können.
Neben dem Rechtswert und dem Hochwert muss zusätzlich noch Pixelgröße bezogen auf den entsprechenden Maßstab berechnet werden. Dazu wird die Breite des JPEG-Bildes in Metern durch die Anzahl der Pixel geteilt und mit dem jeweiligen Maßstab multipliziert. Ergebnis ist die Pixelgröße auf Bodenebene.
Eine genaue Georeferenzierung erfordert einen Abzug der halben Pixelgröße vom Hoch- bzw. Rechtswert des linken oberen Pixels des Bildes. Entscheidend ist, dass der Name der Worldfile genau dem Namen zu georeferenzierenden JPEG ist. Nun kann das JPEG als Layer eingefügt werden und ist somit vollständig georeferenziert.
Eine weitere Methode is das Georeferenzieren innerhalb von ArcGIS. Dabei sucht man mit dem Befehl "Add Control Points" feste Punkte auf einer bereits georeferenzierten Karte die sich auf der noch zu georeferenzierenden Karte wiedererkennenlassen. Mit dem Befehl "Rectify..." lässt sich nun die eben georeferenzierte Karte als neuer Layer abspeichern.
